This scholarship is awarded in memory of Patrick “Bear” Lazzaro. Bear, in whose honor this scholarship exists, overcame severe dyslexia to learn to read. He later went on to obtain a Bachelor’s degree from East Carolina University and graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Master’s degree from Edgewood College. Many loving educators from the Rocky River School System believed in him and encouraged him throughout his education. They served as an inspiration to him as he went on to become an educator of others with various cognitive or learning disabilities.
